Comrades Soccer champions

Comrades Sports Club from Badulla carried away the Division one soccer championship on Saturday beating Green Field Sports Club from Kalutara in a tie breaker 5-4 after a 1-1 draw during the regulation time. The final was played at the CR and FC grounds.

Though the Comrades entered the field as favourites Green Field put up stiff resistance to hold their rivals to a one all draw and the referee introduced the tie breaker system from which the Badulla team gained this valuable victory.

Comrades from Badulla will make history as they become the first team from the Uva Province to enter the Dialog Premier League for the year 2009, while Green Field SC too will qualify to play in this tourney which is expected to commence in the latter part of the year.
