Terrorism will be eradicated soon - PM

Our war heroes are today dedicated to their duties in eradicating terrorism from our motherland. As a Government we provide everything to our war heroes as never before. During last month the largest number of young people joined the Security Forces as new recruits, Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka said.

The Prime Minister made these remarks at a function held at the Ingiriya Base Hospital last Friday.

Prime Minister Wickramanayaka said that the Government would never support a ceasefire. The LTTE entered into such ceasefires in the past only to strengthen itself adding that the Government has learnt this lesson from past experiences.

"We will be able to finish off terrorism in a few days time. After that, we will be able to engage these war heroes in the massive development program so that the country can achieve the much needed economic development", the Prime Minister said.

He said we must build a righteous society. We must do our best to create a society to enable us to live in an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood.

A dental surgery constructed with funds from philanthropists from the South Korean Trade Association was opened and an ambulance donated by Traders' Association of Zishuan Province, China was also handed over to the Ingiriya Base Hospital on this occasion.

Minister of Healthcare and Nutrition Nimal Siripala de Silva, Sri Lanka Freedom Party Horana Chief Organiser Vidura Wickramanayaka, Viharadhipathi of Ingiriya Deepaloka Viharaya Ven. Mudunkotuwe Santhasiri Thera, Secretary to the Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition Dr. Nihal Jayathilake, Provincial Director of Health Dr. Amal Harsha, District Medical Officer Shelton Perera, Ingiriya Hospital Director Lalith Weerasinghe were also present.
