Division I soccer final tomorrow
BERNARD Perera
The Division I soccer championship organised by Football Federation
of Sri Lanka will come to a close when the final of this tourney takes
place on Saturday at the CR & FC ground. The finalists are Green Field
SC from Kalutara and Comrades SC from Badulla.
Before reaching the final both teams have played six matches and won
five and drawn a game each. Greenfield drew with Youngsters SC while
their opponents Comrades SC failed to win against Brilliant SC.
On form Comrades SC have a slight edge when looking at the goal
aggregate. They have scored 22 goals giving away only 6. Meanwhile
Greenfield SC though they reached the final has only 14 goals in their
favour and given away six. This comparison shows the striking power of
Comrades SC.
If the Kalutara Club is to halt the goal hungry Comrades, they must
put on a strong defence line and go on the attack which could pose a big
threat.
The team that plays a good disciplined game could come out as victors
on this day. Both teams will definitely go flat out to win this game as
they are hoping to make their debuts in to the forthcoming Dialog
Premier League tournament.
The winners will go with the trophy and a purse to the value of Rs.
250,000 while the runners-up too get a trophy and Rs. 100,000. |
