BOI approves three new projects
Value added calcium carbonate, foliage for export and
designer roofing:
The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) granted investment
approval to Lanmic Exports (Pvt) Limited, A M G International (Pvt)
Limited and Color Roof (Pvt) Limited.

Chairman/Director General Dhammika Perera signed the agreement on
behalf of the BOI and presented the BOI Certificate of Registration to
the investors.
The investment agreement signed with Lanmic Exports is for a project
to manufacture value added calcium carbonate and coated calcium
carbonates and related products. The first two phases will be an
investment of US $ 1.2 million and the third phase will be an investment
of US $. 850,000. The first two phases will involve treating calcium
carbonate with chemicals and processing to produce fine powder.
The value added calcium carbonate products will be exported to
international markets in Europe, Pakistan and India. The production
facility will be at the Seethawaka Export Processing Zone and will
generate employment for a workforce of 200. Managing Director M.U.
Bopitiya and Director Dilantha De Silva signed the agreement on behalf
of Lanmic Exports Limited.
The BOI also granted approval for the following two projects with A M
G International Ceylon (Pvt) Limited and Color Roof (Pvt) Limited.
An agreement to export locally grown foliage was signed with A M G
International Ceylon (Pvt) Limited. The project is sponsored by Dubai
based A M G International Holdings is an initial investment of US $
170,000.
Director A M G International, Viraj Ekanayake said that A M G
International Holding is involved in real estate, hospitality, granite
and marble industry and foliage. He said that 80 per cent of foliage
being sourced from Sri Lanka as the main reason for setting up this
venture here.
The company established in Ehelapola Estate, Matale will grow and cut
foliage. Ekanayake said that the company will create 50 new employment
opportunities in the rural areas taking the concept of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa to create employment in rural areas. He also thanked Panduka
Keerthinanda for initiating this project.
CEO Anthony Malik Gunasekara and General Manager Viraj Ekanayake
signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
Color Roof Limited signed an agreement to manufacture roofing tiles
and other cement products for the local market.
The venture is a subsidiary of Prime Land Limited worth US $ 300,000.
The company will manufacture designer roofing tiles based on customer
requirements. The manufacturing plant located at Horana is expected to
generate employment for 50. Sandamini Perera, Chief Executive Officer
said the company will commence operations within one month.
On behalf of Color Roof Limited Chairman B. Premalal and Chief
Executive Officer Sandamini Perera signed the agreement.
