Four Police stations opened in North

IGP Jayantha Wickremaratne participated in religious observances at the Sri Dalada Maligawa and met the prelates of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters after the inauguration of the A-9 Road from Jaffna to Kandy after 24 years.

He said that it is proposed to open 24 police stations in the Northern Province in due course.

Already police stations have been opened in Madhu Road, Viduthalativu, Ilumpakadavai and Manakaveli.

It is expected to have a police station in Omanthai, the IGP said.

There are around 2,000 police officers deployed on duty in the Northern Province and this would increase when the civil administration is restored. There are 37 police checkpoints in the Eastern Province.
