Turkey condoles

The Ambassador for the Republic of Turkey accredited to Sri Lanka has expressed grief on the attack on cricketers in Pakistan.

"I was deeply shocked and grieved to learn about the attack on Sri Lanka's Cricket team in Pakistan, this morning.

The Sportsmen in any country are the Ambassadors of Goodwill and it is an accepted norm that they should not be the target of any political or terrorist group to achieve their parochial interest. This is a despicable attempt aimed at intimidating not only the cricketers but also the decency of the whole world community who treasure human values."

I condemn this brutal, cowardly act with utter despair and disgust", Consul General B. D. Wijeratne said.
