Royal hit back

Bowlers called the tune on the first day of the inter-school cricket match between Royal College and Trinity College which began at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Royal batting first were well placed at 140 for 4 but lost their last six wickets for 13 runs with off spinner Suresh Wickrema being the destroyer taking 7 wickets for 47.

Bhanuka Rajapakse top scored for Royal with 60. The Trinitians in their turn were skittled out for 129 with right arm leg spinner Charutha Rajaratne (4 for 36) and left arm leg spinner Maneesha Thantirigoda (4 for 22) being the main wreckers.

Royal 153 in 42.3 overs (Bhanuka Rajapakse 60, Sahan Hettiarachchi 30, Haroon Mowjood 24, Suresh Wickrema 7 for 47, Rushan Jaleel 2 for 62) and 20 for one wicket (Chalaka Bogoda 11 n.o.).

Trinity 129 in 42.1 overs (Kithmal Wimalaweera 22, Sameera Wijesuriya 29, Charutha Rajaratne 4 for 36, Maneesha Thantirigoda 4 for 22, Yasith Abeykoon 2 for 35).
