Ananda fight back

Ananda College after being dismissed for 169 hit back to have St. Joseph's College struggling at 138 for 8 wickets in their under 19 inter-school cricket match which began at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

The Anandians batting first were helped by two fine knocks by skipper Dinesh Chandimal (54) and Udesh Nadeeranga (41) before their middle order collapsed against the pace cum spin combination of Dinal Dhambarage (3 for 40) and Shameera Weerasinghe (5 for 40).

The Josephians in reply found run making difficult against medium pacer Ruvinda Shamen (4 for 40) and spinner Chathura Herath (2 for 29) and were 138 for 8 at close.

Ananda 169 in 46.2 overs (Udesh Nadeeranga 41, Dinesh Chandimal 54, Sameera Wijesuriya 23, Dinal Dhambarage 3 for 40, Shameera Weerasinghe 5 for 40).
