Politicians should not handle school administration

School administration should be left in the levels of the relevant
officials and not with the politicians, Youth Empowerment and Socio
Economic Development Minister Arumugam Thondaman said.
Minister Thondaman made these remarks at a felicitation ceremony at
Sri Somananda Maha Vidyalaya, Korathota recently.
It is the responsibility of politicians to assist schools so that
they can impart a good education and produce a moral society.
Also it is the responsibility of the Ministry Secretary to find ways
to ensure provision for development activities of the relevant Ministry,
the Minister said. Financial allocation to the value of Rs. 4 million
was provided for the development of school playground, parapet wall and
communication equipment of this school by the Minister from his
budgetary allocation.
Thondaman handed over a fax machine and also presented certificates
to students who had excelled in inter-school athletic meet, recently.
It is the responsibility of every citizen to lend a helping hand to
president Mahinda Rajapaksa in his efforts to develop the country he
said. In this onerous task, we should forget petty politics and
religious or social differences, Minister Arumugam Thondaman said.
