Development projects in Hiriyala

A special plan has been drawn up by the Kurunegala district Assistant Samurdhi Commissioner's office to develop 30 selected villages taking one village from each DS division in the Kurunegala district.

The main objective of this program is to convert these villages into self-sufficient villages where the ancient cultural features and moral values are preserved.

A sum of Rs. 290,322 has been allocated for this program, Kurunegala district Assistant Samurdhi Commissioner Indu Jayasekera said.

Meanwhile, a sum of Rs. 16.8 million has been allocated for the development of infrastructure facilities in 42 Grama Niladari divisions in the Narammala DS division for the year 2009.

"It has been planned to implement 23 electricity supply schemes and five water supply schemes and 58 rural roads and construct 3 culverts with this money," Divisional Secretary, Narammala L. H. Ramyasiri said.
