Sudar Oli Editor under arrest

Reports of abduction false:

Government Spokesman and Media and Information Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa yesterday said Sudar Oli Editor N. Vidyatharan was taken into police custody for questioning over a telephone conversation with regard to the LTTE’s abortive air raid on Colombo on February 20.

N. Vidyatharan

He is alleged to have helped the LTTE in its suicide air mission.

He was arrested on information received by the CID that his telephone had been used to make a call to the LTTE in connection with this attack.

Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa also said that at the time of his arrest the police was unaware that he was an Editor.

If he has committed any offence, legal action will be taken against him and if not he would be released, the Minister added.

He also said that there is no truth whatsoever in statements that said that the Editor was abducted.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said that the arrested Editor is being questioned by the Special Investigations Unit of the Colombo Police.
