IHRF writes to ICRC

The International Hindu Religious Federation (IHRF) in a letter addressed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has requested the ICRC to take immediate action to bring the families of Hindu priests in Mullaitivu and Puthukudiyiruppu who are ready to come to the Government controlled areas through the ICRC by ship according to the President's request.

According to the IHRF, nearly 50 Hindu priests' families have got stuck in Mullaitivu and Puthukudiyiruppu areas due to the conflict situation and they are ready to depart from those areas. "We humbly request to bring these Hindu priests' families by ship from Pokkanai to Trincomalee or any other safe places through the ICRC."

"We urge you to heed President Mahinda Rajapaksa's request that the Hindu priests who are residents of Mullaitivu and Puthukudiyiruppu should come to Government controlled areas," the release added.
