Don't agree to ceasefire - SPUR

The Society for Peace, Unity and Human Rights for Sri Lanka (SPUR) has urged the Government not to agree to the offer of a ceasefire by the LTTE and never again allow the Tigers to rise from the ashes and drag the nation to war.

Issuing a media release SPUR notes that the Government needs to respect the sacrifices made by the armed forces in quarantining the activities of the LTTE to less than 80 square kilometres in the North of Sri Lanka.

It has also urged India to crack down hard on the Tamil Nadu sympathizers of LTTE terrorists who are inciting violence both in India and Sri Lanka.

SPUR reiterates that the Government of Sri Lanka should not agree to a ceasefire with the increasingly desperate LTTE and insists that the LTTE unconditionally surrenders to the Government .

It has called on the LTTE to surrender all weapons and disclose the location of weapons storage and other material used.
