Settlement in the offing
Sandasen Marasinghe
The Colombo High Court yesterday allowed parties in the Duminda Silva
rape case to obtain instructions from the Attorney General with regard
to the proposal made by the aggrieved parties to settle the matter.
Colombo High Court Judge Sunil Rajapakse put off the case for May 04
with Attorney Weerasena Ranahewa submitting before the Court that the
virtual complainant of the case proposed to the matter.
R. Duminda Silva was indicted by the Attorney General with rape
charges and M.N. Hansal Ishak and D.N. Francis Kuruppu were indicted in
the same case for aiding and abetting Duminda Silva to do so. The case
was heard in absentia of the third accused.
