Consistent batting down the line by Trinity College batsmen helped them to total 252 on the opening day of their inter-school cricket match against D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo which began at the Asgiriya Stadium in Kandy yesterday. At close D.S. Senanayake College had replied with 56 for 3 at close.

There were no big scores by the Trinity batsmen but seven of them entered double figures with Dinuk Weeraratne (45) being the highest scorer. Spinner Navin Kavikara bowled will to capture 5 for 58.

Trinity: 252 (Kithmal Wimalaweera 17, Niroshan Dickwella 20, Dinuk Weeraratne 45, Dilan Gangoda 37, S. Weersooriya 14, Mohamed Sajid 30, Rushan Jaleel 33, Navin Kavikara 5 for 58, Nadun Pathirana 2 for 45, Malith Wickremasinghe 2 for 50).

D.S. Senanayake: 56 for 3 wickets at close (H. Udugamvithana 33, Thivanka Anurddha 13, Akila Jayasundera 2 for 14).
