AFC President to launch ‘Vision Sri Lanka’ today
Vision Sri Lanka the local version of Vision Asia is the brain child
of the AFC President Bin Mohamed Hammam, a continent-wide program to
raise the standards of Asian football at all levels, be it on the field
of play, administration or sports science will be launched today at the
Football House.
The President of the Asian Football Confederation will be here today
along with the following for the launch this program are Brendon Menton,
Director of Vision Asia, John David Whittle, Acting Director of
Grassroots and Youth, and Development Officers, Ali Targhqlizadeh (Coach
Education), Yogesh Desai (Club/Competition), Imitiaz Ur Rehman (Director
Vision India), Ameez Mohamed (Referee Education), Ms. Wong Stew Kim,
event Secretary.
On requests made by AFC Vice President and Management Committtee
Chairmana FFSL Manilal Fernando, Hammam had initiated and assisted many
projects for the development of Football in Sri Lanka .
The AFC President firmly believes that Asia, with its 4 billion
population, has the potential to produce many world-class football
nations. His ultimate goal is for an Asian team to win the FIFA World
Cup in the very near future.
