Antonians in command

St. Anthony’s College, Katugastota were in a commanding position at
the end of the first day’s play in their inter-school cricket match
against Richmond College, Galle, which began at Katugastota yesterday.
The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.
The Antonians won the toss and decided to take first strike and their
batsmen batted with aggression to score 324 for 7 in just 53 overs. They
scored over six runs per over. Jerome Siegertsz top scored with a hard
hit 81 with 13 fours and a six.
Kasun Ekanayake too batted with aggression to score 78 with 7 fours
and a six. Adil Reyal pounded a quick 50 with 1 six and 6 fours and
Sahan Pallihakkara was unbeaten on 54 with 8 fours.
At close Richmond College were in a bad way with the scoreboard
reading 126 for 8 at close. D. D. Silva top scored with 53 which
contained 11 fours. They require a further 98 runs to avoid the follow
on.
