FM briefs Danish counterpart

The Foreign Minister of Denmark Per. Stig Moller spoke to Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama yesterday on the telephone to discuss the current developments in the North.

Responding to the Danish Foreign Minister's concern on the civilians who are suffering and are trapped in the North and his call for a ceasefire, the Minister said that the security and welfare of the civilians is of paramount importance to the Sri Lanka Government.

It is in their interest that the Government continues to send supplies to the North and a safe area has been demarcated to allow the civilians to move to a secure environment.

It is regrettable that the LTTE is holding them hostage.
