NYSC to build 4,000 volleyball courts

The National Youth Services Council and the Youth Affairs Ministry
have launched a project to build 4,000 volleyball courts under 'Gama
Neguma' programme.
2,000 volleyball courts have already been completed islandwide.
Government provides volleyballs, nets, two volleyball poles for the
volleyball courts and Rs. 2,000 to prepare the courts. Government spends
altogether Rs. 10,000 on a volleyball court.
The NYSC had made arrangements to distribute sports equipment to 150
volleyball courts in Nuwara Eliya electorate on February 11 at 10 a.m.
at Cinecita Town Hall, Nuwara Eliya under the patronage of Youth Affairs
Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi. Another sports equipment distribution
ceremony is scheduled to be held on February 11 at 10 a.m. at Sudhasuna
Hall Puttalam to distribute sports equipment for 100 volleyball courts
in Puttalam.
The chief guest will be Deputy Speaker of Parliament Priyankara
Jayaratne.
The total amount estimated for two projects is Rs. 2,500,000.
