Sampath Bank has sent us the following clarification on the article titled 'Sampath LOLC Consortiums eye Seylan Bank' in Daily News Business on January 29.

"We would like to state categorically that no senior Sampath Bank official has referred to or made any clarification to the media with regard to any expression of interest pertaining to Seylan Bank."

"Sampath Bank wishes to state that they have no intention to tie up with any party in order to make any strategic acquisition. Sampath Bank has shown remarkable increase in profits in its 20 years of business performance.

"The bank is capable of looking at any prudent investment backed by its own strength if the bank sees it fit to pursue any form of acquisition."
