Indika's 111 helps Thurstan reach 220

Skipper Indika Massalage hammered a sparkling century with six sixes and nine boundaries as Thurstan College took control on the opening day of their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against Maris Stella College Negombo which commenced at Thurstan grounds yesterday.

Thurstan: 220 (I. Massalage 111, S. Kamalean 21, U. Theekshana 24, D. Siyabalapitiya 20 n.o, D. Chamika 4 for 68, D. Shanaka 2 for 68, A. Silva 4 for 49).

Maris Stella: 114 (S. de Silva 34, S. Kamalean 3 for 36, P. Arthavindu 3 for 20).

MATHEESHA, DINESH SHINE FOR ANANDA

Matheesha Perera claimed a six wicket haul and skipper Dinesh Chandimal struck an unbeaten 83 with ten boundaries to put Ananda College in a commanding position on the opening day of their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match against St. Benedict's College which began at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

St. Benedict's: 103 (D. Wanigasuriya 18, M. Perera 6 for 39, R. Herath 2 for 19, S. Perera 2 for 19).

Ananda: 166 for 5 (D. Chandimal 83 n.o, S. Silva 2 for 33, D. Auwardt 2 for 53).

BERENGER 93 NOT OUT

Dashing opener Andy Berenger struck an unbeaten 93 as St. Peter's College reached an impressive 145 for no loss in reply to Isipatana's first innings total of 272 runs on the opening day of their inter school under 19 cricket tournament match which began at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

Isipatana: 272 (D. Parapitiya 47, D. Perera 63, S. Premaratne 57, A. Perera 3 for 60, C. Peiris 3 for 39, A. Wickremasuriya 2 for 37).

St. Peter's: 145 for no loss (A. Berenger 93 n.o, D. Perera 44 n.o.).
