Ex UNP PS chairman, supporters join UPFA

Alawwa’s former PS Chairman Gamini Gunapala (UNP), PS member K.A. Weerakkodi, D. Chaminda Warnasuriya, K.A. Sumathipala, Dharmaratne Hearth and more than 600 UNP supporters joined the SLFP and obtained membership from the Minister of Rural Industries and the Deputy Chairman SLFP S.B. Navinna at Alawwa, Walakubura.

The UNP supporters of Yatthalgedara, Nawatalwattha, Rattharanhena, Ehala Wala Kumbura, Kohalewa, Abayawattha, Udumulla, Waduwawa, Yatigaloluwa, Poramadala and Hadipannala flocked to the Alawwa, Walakubura election meeting headed by Minister S.B. Navinna and obtained membership.

Minister S.B. Navinna and Wayamba PC candidate Nikawaratiya Ex MP Soma Kumari Tennakoon greeted them very warmly.

At this meeting Alawwa former PS Chairman (UNP) Gamini Gunapala said President Mahinda Rajapaksa is the only leader who protects our country from the terrorists.

The rural masses of Alawwa DS area support the President by forgetting political hues at this juncture to relieve the country from the claws of the Tigers which the forces will definitely triumph in the not distance future, he said.

Provincial candidate Soma Kumari Tenakoon said, lawyers, pensioners, teachers, farmers and the Government servants of Wayamba have decided to extend their fullest support to ensure the victory of the Freedom Alliance in Wayamba PC election.

She also said the voters shall not forget that vast sums are spent for village development while billions of rupees are spent every month to support the ongoing conflict with the sole intention and expectation to crush the LTTE terrorists where all previous regimes failed, she added.

Alawwa PS member K.A. Weerakkodi, D. Chamindha Warnasuriya, K.A. Sumathipala and Dharmaratne Herath also addressed this meeting.
