'Achieving equity in development, Government's main aim'

Achieving equity in development, while sustaining growth is the main
focus of the present Government in the economic sphere, Minister of
Local Government and Provincial Councils Janaka Bandara Tennakoon said
while declaring open the T.B.Tennakoon memorial multi purpose building
complex in Galewela recently.
The Government's intention was to provide direct benefits to the
masses through a variety of community based development projects, he
added. The Building complex constructed at a cost of Rs. 80 million is
expected to help the people of the area in a variety of ways including
the 1,000 seater conference hall which fills a long existing vaccum for
such a facility in the area.
The new building complex is a part of a larger development plan which
concentrates in the Dambulla area with a number of such programs in the
pipeline to make the area a commercial hub.
The event was also attended by Ministers Dinesh Gunewardene, Bandula
Gunewardene, Rohana Dissanayake and local officials. |
