Pieris receive 1st Dan Black Belt

H.D.S. pieris a soldier who led the first Judo team has been successful in gaining the 1st Dam Black Belt after a long period of 30 years.

Peiris has been a top class karate ka in addition to Judo and many forms of Martial arts.

He has undergone training under various foreign experts during his long career and later became the Asst. Instructor for Sri Lanka Army under L/CPL S. Palihawadane of Singha Regiment.

He also had the opportunity of representing the Judo team of YMBA and became the National Judo Champion in the year 1969.

He also served as the Chief Adviser for the Judo course at the 1st CLI regiment which was commenced by Commanding Officer Major A.P.R. David along with M.N. Tennekoon.
