'Plantation workers should vote for UPFA'

Minister of Youth Empowerment and Socio-Economic Development and the General Secretary of Ceylon Workers Congress Arumugan Thondaman MP addressing the election meeting organized by him in the Norwood open play ground on Sunday said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa's Government is rendering a great service to the plantation sector workers who are toiling.

He has deep affection for the upcountry masses without any ethnic discrimination and treats all people equally.

We must support him to execute the tasks in the future by voting for the UPFA. He called upon the upcountry masses to strengthen the hands of the President in order to achieve the objectives of the plantation people.

He said that the CWC as the first and the foremost trade union of the plantation sector was dedicated to uplift the living conditions of plantation workers and for the betterment of the lives of the youth in the underprivileged community. So that they could live with dignity and equal rights in the country.

The immense contribution made by the plantation workers to the economy of the country is appreciated by the President, he said.
