First innings win

Sri Rahula College, Katugastota staged a magnificent recovery to post a first innings win over Moratu Vidyalaya in their inter-school cricket match concluded at the university ground, Peradeniya yesterday. In reply to Moratu Vidyalaya's first innings total 281, Sri Rahula College were struggling at 42 for 3 at the end of first day's play. The slump continued yesterday morning too when the scoreboard read 70 for 6 after an hour's play.

But the seventh wicket pair of skipper Chaturanga Dikkumbura 120 and Sunimal Dissanayake 83 (7 fours, 2 sixers) had other ideas and completely turn around the game for Sri Rahula College.

Moratu Vidyalaya in their second innings were 172 for 6 with Chatura Hemakumara scoring 58 following up his first innings score of 81.

Moratu Vidyalaya 281 (Chatura Hemakumara 81, Sudeetha Kelum 80, L. Mendis 43, Amith Tillekeratne 4 for 109, Chaturanga Dikkumbura 2 for 37, Roshan Subasinghe 2 for 46) and 172 for 6 (A. Priyadharshana 50, Chatura Hemakumara 58, I. Devinda 36 n.o. and Sukum Ranatunga 5 for 59).

Sri Rahula 293 (Chatura Dikkumbura 120, Sunimal Dissanayake 83, Amith Tillekeratne 21, Ruwan Ratnayake 15, M. Lasith 3 for 23, A. Priyadharshana 2 for 22, S. Withanage 2 for 28).
