Thomians retain Sathasivam Trophy

S.Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia retained the M.Sathasivam Trophy when they recorded a convincing 9 wicket win over Wesley College in their annual cricket encounter concluded at Mount Lavinia yesterday. In a low scoring game the Thomians got the better out of the Wesleyites after dismissing them in both innings below 100 runs.

The Thomians who were 128 for 3 overnight in reply to Wesley’s first innings score of 91, declared their innings at the same score with a lead of 37 runs after the overnight rain delayed the start . Play was possible only at 11.20 am. Wesley going in for the second time flopped again when they were dismissed for 79.

Wesley 91 and 79 (J. Bongso 25, Chamal Fonseka 3 for 18, Chamod Pathirana 2 for 12, Faheem Salim 2 for 6).
