Forces advance towards Puthukudurippu

Commander of the 59 Division, Brigadier Nandana Udawatta yesterday said Troops advancing from the north of Mullativu town yesterday succeeded in capturing a stretch of 2 kilometres amidst stiff resistance by LTTE terrorists.

Troops protecting Mullativu town yesterday recovered another LTTE defence line which consisted of a massive earth bund and a ditch.

Heavy clashes erupted between the Forces and the LTTE cadres in the Mullativu front yesterday.

According to Brigadier Udawatta, Troops of 59 Division with the Task Force 1, 2, 3, are advancing towards the terrorist strongholds in Pudukuduirruppu. They have discovered an air conditioned room in an underground bunker used by an LTTE leader.

It has been established that computers and other modern equipment have been fixed in this room which was covered by teak logs. The Troops believe a high ranker of the LTTE might have lived there.
