hSenid launches Go-Green initiative
hSenid Software International, a mobile and HRIS solution provider in
Sri Lanka, has launched an initiative, by taking on Green Efforts to
drive the organisation to an environmentally friendly point.
The company’s ‘Green Team’, a group of self driven employees has
pioneered hSenid’s journey in reaching an eco friendly position.
The team develops initiatives and proposes plans on how best the
company can improve on energy efficiency, reuse paper and other
materials, conserve water; reduce the carbon footprint caused by harmful
emissions and ventures on effective e-waste disposing mechanisms.
The Green Team points out, that one office worker can use a quarter
ton of materials in a year which includes 10,000 pieces of copier paper
and for every one ton of paper 17 trees are cut down.
Thus hSenid’s ‘Green Team’ is building on their efforts of trying to
minimize this waste at an initial organizational level.
The team is confidant that their beginnings will truly have a
constructive impact on the organisation as well as the greater society.
“As being part of the Global Community, hSenid will try to do its
share of reducing the Carbon Foot Print, and be more concerned about
Mother Earth. We will strive to do our part, so our children and our
grandchildren will have a better and cleaner environment to live in,”
CEO hSenid Software International Dinesh Saparamadu said.
As a first step for the ‘Go Green’ initiative, hSenid has printed
their calendar for 2009 on recycled paper with images and powerful
quotes of caring for the environment which includes Global Warming,
Water Conservation, Carbon Foot Print, and Renewable Energy.
A downloadable desktop version of the calendar is also available
through hSenid’s corporate website http://www.hsenid.com/gogreen as an
initiative to reduce the waste of paper.
hSenidians are confident that this initiative of protecting and
caring for the environment will have a profound impact on the
organization, the society and most importantly for our children, as we
lend a hand to build a greener and healthier world. With a company wide
commitment for hSenid’s ‘Go Green’ initiative, the management and
employees are confident that they will ‘Make it Happen’.
SLASSCOM HR Forum to bring IT- BPO HR leaders together
The Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies, (SLASSCOM),
the national IT/BPO industry association said it has formed the SLASSCOM
HR forum to bring the HR leaders of the IT/BPO companies together to
build a progressive national workforce which is competitive, ethical and
collaborative.
The forum focus on facilitating collaboration among HR professionals
of IT and BPO companies with business leadership support.
BPO industry workers at a forum |
The SLASSCOM HR Forum will facilitate best practice sharing, adoption
of industry wide progressive employment practices, setting national
competency standards and act as a platform for HR professionals to
network. SLASSCOM will also collaborate with other related agencies to
positively influence changes required policy changes for Sri Lanka to
become a highly attractive destination with world-class HR practices.
“I see the creation of the SLASSCOM HR Forum as a perfect opportunity
for the HR teams in the IT and BPO industries to share knowledge and
best practices, benchmark standards, agree on standard and elevate the
industry as a whole, and also network closely.
It could also influence the required legislation for the betterment
of the industry” said Director HR Virtusa, Global Head of Training and
Development and the Global Processing Centre Ishan Dantanarayana.
The core of the knowledge industry is about human resources. Nations
with high quality human resource in abundance will stand a better chance
in being successful in transitioning in to a knowledge based economy.
Vice President Human Resources for WNS Global Services, Dr. Archana
Arcot, said “The creation of SLASSCOM has in itself created a great
sense of buoyancy among the Sri Lankan IT- BPO Companies. The Formation
of a forum connects the HR Leaders from the IT-BPO space and the
platform will work towards addressing and raising the bar on HR and
people related policies and programs.
The forum will progressively engage in forward thinking strategies
for augmenting the growth of the IT- BPO Industry thus creating a larger
footprint. Prime drivers for the IT-BPO Industry growth are dependent on
talent availability.
The paucity of talent today exists on aspects like skill - not only
confined to English language capability but also availability of
specialized functional know-how in areas such service delivery, quality,
transition, project management methodologies, information security but
also in terms of scalability - the ability to hire large volumes within
minimal turn around times. The forum would focus on addressing these
challenges that the industry is posed with.
Vice President - Human Resources / Learning and Development of HSBC
Technology and Services - Service Delivery Sanjiv Agrawal, said “I
believe formation of SLASSCOM is the first step towards making Sri Lanka
a top IT /ITES outsourcing destination. The HR forum is an opportunity
for the people’s leaders of this industry to come together and create an
enabling environment that nurtures a talented workforce”.
The initial work on putting together the road map has already begun
with the HR leaders representing a number of companies coming together.
All HR leaders in the IT and BPO companies are invited to join the
SLASSCOM HR Forum to become a part of this national effort. further
