Isipatana win by 55 runs

On a wicket which spun like a top, spinners revelled as Isipatana
College pulled off a sensational 55 run win over Trinity College in
their inter-school cricket match concluded at the Asgiriya Stadium in
Kandy on Tuesday. Trinity College were set a relatively easy task of
scoring 142 runs to win in 80 overs but they collapsed for 87 runs
leaving their opponents winner by 55 runs shortly after lunch.
Trinity were 31 for 5 at one stage and they moved up to 78 for 5 but
lost their last five wickets for just 9 runs.
Match winners for Isipatana were off-spinner Anushka Deemantha who
took 4 for 41 to end up with match figures of 10 for 111. Left arm
spinner Samitha Sulochana took 6 for 36 in the second innings. In fact
both spinners opened the attack.
Earlier Isipatana continuing their overnight score of 105, were
dismissed for 166 with skipper and left arm spinner Rushan Jaleel who
opened the attack taking 7 for 55 to finish with match figures of 12 for
101. In batting too he did well to score 41 not out and 30 not out but
his lion hearted attack could not save his side from this ignonimous
defeat.
