SSC fight-back to beat Moors

The defending champions and table leaders SSC after conceding first innings points came back magnificently to beat Moors SC outright by eight wickets in their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match concluded at Maitland Place yesterday.

Moors SC were dismissed for 205 in their second innings with Sachithra Senanayake claiming six wickets for 84.

SSC then reached their victory target quite convincingly with skipper Tharanga Paranavithana and Thilan Samaraweera s coring unbeaten centuries.

The pair also put on a massive 383 runs for the unfinished second wicket after they had lost two early wickets.

Moors SC: 227 and 205 (S. Perera 52, D. Hunukumbura 88, S. Senanayake 6 for 84, M. Lakmal 2 for 26).

SSC: 126 and 308 for 2 (T. Paranavithana 123 n.o, T. Samaraweera 154 n.o, C. Welagedera 2 for 37).

Sachith bowls CCC

to victory

Former Sri Lanka under 19 cap Sachith Pathirana took a superb five wicket haul to spearhead CCC to a rousing ten wicket outright victory over Ragama CC in their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match concluded at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Ragama CC: 215 and 146 (I. Daniel 28, L. Thirimanna 34, I. de Saram 22, C. Vidanapathirana 3 for 36, S. Pathirana 5 for 41).

CCC: 341 and 21 for no loss.

Middle order batsman Jeevan Mendis hammered a splendid 125 to help Tamil Union take first innings points over Chilaw Marians SC in their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match concluded at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium yesterday.

Chilaw Marians SC:

366 and 216 for 8 (S. Niroshan 65, A. Athulathmudali 52, G. Wijekoon 28, C. Perera 35 n.o, I. Udana 2 for 21, J. Mendis 4 for 46, S. Chaturanga 2 for 55).

Tamil Union:

463 (S. Fernando 78, A. Priyanjan 82, J. Mendis 125, S. Serasinghe 23, I. Udana 88, D. Hettiarachchi 7 for 187, C. Perera 2 for 47).

Middle order batsman Nalaka Kaluarachchi hit a splendid 113 but could not prevent Sri Lanka Army SC from conceding first innings points to NCC in their SLC Premier League Tier A tournament match concluded at Panagoda yesterday.

NCC: 411 and 129 for 7 (K. Gunawardena 30, K. Kulasekera 28, E. Gangoda 27, S. Prasanna 4 for 63, I. Karunatilleke 2 for 21).

Army SC: 282 (N. Kaluarachchi 113, S. Prasanna 26, M. de Soysa 29, C. Prasad 29, C. Komasaru 4 for 91, T. Kottahewa 3 for 60, K. Kulasekera 2 for 44).

Nuwan helps Air Force

Nuwan Shiroman hit a top score of 92 not out to lead Sri Lanka Air Force SC to a five wicket outright victory over Seeduwa Raddoluwa SC in their SLC Premier League Tier B tournament match concluded at Rifle Green yesterday.

Seeduwa RSC: 224 and 247 (N. Priyantha 54, U. Karunaratne 74 n.o, R. Dhammika 51, S. Kumara 3 for 54, S. Madanayake 3 for 55).

Air Force SC: 258 and 214 for 5 (N. Shiroman 92 n.o, S. Kandanarachchi 57, D. de Silva 2 for 27, U. Karunaratne 2 for 49.
