Computer facilities for Grama Niladaries

The Government has decided to provide computerized telecommunication
facilities to Grama Niladaris to streamline rural administration, Public
Administration and Home Affairs and Deputy Finance Minister Dr. Sarath
Amunugama said.
The main objective of the project is to assist the Government to
develop the village, Dr. Amunugama said.
He was speaking at the opening ceremony of the newly constructed
building for the Harispattuwa, Kandy Divisional Secretariat recently
built at a cost of Rs. 65 million.
Minister Dr. Amunugama said the greatest challenge today before the
Government is to restore Civil Administration in the North. Staff
vacancies including the Sri Lanka Administration Service in the above
provinces will be filled soon to provide better public service. A survey
on the un-utilised lands in the division will be carried out with the
support of the respective Divisional Secretariats. At least 12 perches
of land should be given to each public servant, he added.
Dr. Amunugama said the construction of housing complexes for public
servants are being completed in Colombo, Kandy and Galle.
New sub officers attached to the respective Divisional Secretariat
will be opened to help some areas in the Northern and Eastern Provinces,
Minister Dr. Amunugama added. Construction activities of the proposed
building for the Poojapitiya Divisional Secretariat was launched by
Minister Dr. Amunugama.
Kandy District Secretariat Gotabhaya Jayaratne , Harispattuwa
Divisional Secretary A. P.W. Ariyawansa and Poojapitiya Divisional
Secretary Dayamenike Sarathchandra were also present. |
