Govt has helped younger generation

Our aim is to direct the children on the proper path, but when they
become corrupted due to a bad environment within which they live, the
Mahinda Rajapaksa Govt has done a lot for the younger generation, but
the achievements are not to the extent which we expected, said Media
Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena.
He said so at the occasion of distributing school requirements and
printed religious texts among the pupils of the Daham Pasala run at
Midellawala Raja Maha Viharaya, Thihagoda.
Lakhsman Yapa Abeywardena Foundation organised the function.
Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said, it is a matter for
evaluation the extent of efforts taken by the temples to run Daham
Schools within the temples.
Now there is the threat of shortage of Bhikkus that are the need of
the country.
He said Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena Foundation is only six years old.
Yet many projects aimed at helping the poor have been launched. All what
foundation has done without expecting political gains.
The Minister said during the last three years, Government was
dedicated to eliminate terrorism of the LTTE. At the same time
development projects were given pride of place.
The Minister distributed the school requirements and printed
Religious Texts among the pupils of the Daham school.
Schoolchildren and their parents were present at the occasion.
