'Knowledge City' in Gampaha on PPP basis

Acknowledging the fast growing demand for private sector lead tertiary education, the Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BoI) is promoting the setting up of a "Knowledge City" at Henegama in the Gampaha District. The location selected is a 122 acre land belonging to the BoI 33 kms from Colombo.

This Knowledge City will attract foreign students especially from the South Asian and Pacific regions. The self contained city is envisaged to have common library facilities, sports grounds, gym, healthcare facilities, food courts, hostels, supermarkets and residential units.

The Public-Private Partnership Unit of the BoI is promoting this project to be developed on PPP basis, where the development of the infrastructure will be carried out by a selected Developer on a Design, Build, Finance and Operate basis.
