Draughtsmen exhibition a success

The annual exhibition of the students who successfully completed the
Diploma in Draughtsman Course conducted by the National Vocational
Training Institute was held at Nipunatha Piyasa at Narahenpita last
week.
The one year full time course included civil, electrical and
mechanical drawing, quantity survey workshop technology and maths.
The program instructor Architect Sirisena Mudiyannegama said that 360
students have completed this course since the inception of the program
and they are all employed locally and abroad.
All the students are given practical training in leading construction
companies where most of them get permanent employment. Daily News

Asian Alliance Insurance Top Ten Congress 2008
The ‘Top Ten Congress 2008’ of Asian Alliance Insurance PLC was held
with the participation of over 200 leading Sales Advisors from all
regions.

The congress was held at Sausiripaya Auditorium.
This is an annual event of Asian Alliance held every December, where
the Life Division shares their plans and strategies for the upcoming
year with the top performing members. The event was held under the theme
of “Get Set 2009”. The Chief Guest of the event was the CEO of Asian
Alliance Ramal G. Jasinghe. The Executive Committee together with the
Management of AAI graced this grand event.
Zonal Manager, Panadura - Kapila Suriyaarachchi commenced this
glamorous event of rewarding the achievements of true professionals
through his welcome note.
Deputy General Manager - Training and Knowledge Management Leelaratne
Piyasena, educated the talented sales force on the winning path of
becoming a top performer whilst General Manager - Sales and Marketing
Chula Hettiarachchi shared the future plans which will forge the Company
to reiterate its Path to Success.
Chief Executive Officer, Ramal Jasinghe delivered his speech focusing
on the future plans and strategies of the organisation and Life Team’s
responsibility towards contributing to the growth of the insurance
industry and thereby achieving the objectives.
The awards for the Best Ten Advisors were claimed by C. Upul
Jayasekara (Kottawa), H. Udaya Fernando (Colombo Central), W. C. T.
Weerasinghe (Kegalle), G. M. Lahiru Maduranga (Kottawa), W. A. Mahinda
Kumara (Horana), J. M. D. Jayasinghe (Ja-Ela), D. I. A. Wanaguru (Kottawa),
E. A. C. S. Edirisinghe (Kurunegala), L. A. Sulaksha Srimal (Panadura)
and U. H. S. Saliya Bandara (Kegalle).
The Best Team Award was taken away by H. D. L. K. Fernando (Colombo
Central). The Senior Management, Managers and staff of the Life Division
and the supporting departments and members including staff, field
management and Regional Managers of the Company were invited.
ETI expands in Kurunegala
ETI has upgraded its previous branch presence by opening a fully
equipped branch office in Kurunegala, further expanding the scope of
ETI’s existing operations in the region.
Declared open by Chairperson Dr. Soma Edirisinghe, the Board of
Directors and Chief Executive Officer Mahendra De Silva, this office
will now offer customers an extensive range of finance facilities
including leasing, hire purchase, fixed deposits, pawning, gold sales,
property development, real estate, trade finance, import and sale of
vehicles, and agro-business as well.

HSBC Lifestyle Show
‘HSBC Lifestyle Show’, the first ever reality game show to be
organised by a bank, for the very first time in Sri Lanka ended
recently, by completing its twelfth episode.
The programme which was aired on Derana TV, attracted many viewers
and delivered key messages on how to plan and manage finances to become
a wise investor.
The show denoted real life situations in financial decision making.
It taught participants how to save, spend their hard earned money
wisely and maximize on their returns.
Many customers and celebrities participated in the show and each
received a cash and credit card limit to invest and spend wisely during
the show.
Saranga Dissanayake, one of many celebrities to grace the show, said,
“The HSBC Lifestyle Games show was a very unique experience, I learnt
that Banking can be fun provided you know where, when, how to save and
invest.”
Anjalika Jayanetti an HSBC Customer and participant of the show said,
“I was impressed by the way my husband and I were introduced to a
savings scheme, through a game show.”
The game show also had the viewers engaged through an SMS based
competition up to the end.
This paved the way for viewers to win Rs.10,000 every week by
answering questions related to the game, products and services offered
by HSBC.

The HSBC Lifestyle Show was yet another innovation that has carved a

Opinion polls have shown that the show was very successful, with 27
per cent stating they were educated on how to maximize on their returns
whilst all respondents stated the HSBC Lifestyle Show educated them on
how to invest money with HSBC.
The show which cashed in on a niche market, established the
importance of making sensible choices with one’s money, especially in
difficult economic conditions. |
