Thirteen year old Collins' 628 not out the highest individual score
in cricket

A. E. J. Collins, a thirteen year old schoolboy of Clifton College,
Bristol, England scored 628 runs not out in a union house match on
Thursday the 22nd of June 1899.

It is the highest individual score on record by a player in any level
of cricket in history.
It was a junior house match at Clifton College, Clarke's House vs
North Town House. The hero of the occasion A. E. J. Collins played for
Clarke's House. Collins batting for six hours and fifty minutes, hit a
six, four fives, thirty-one fours, thirty-three threes and 146 two's his
innings being continued during four afternoons.

Clarke's house scored 836 all out there was no other half century in
the entire match. Collins bagged seven wickets in the first innings and
four wickets in the second innings (11 wickets in the match) an unique
and amazing all round performance in the game's history.
'North Town' house were bundled out 87 in the first innings and 61 in
the second innings. Clarke's house won by an innings and 688 runs.
A. E. J. Collins was born in 1886 in India he played for Clifton
College first XI team in 1901 and 1902. He joined British Army as a
second Lieutenant in 1904. Unfortunately he never played Tests or first
- class cricket. He died during the first world war at 'Flanders'. His
record has still not been broken.
