Ministry offers waiver

The Power and Energy Ministry has decided to waive the 15 per cent fuel adjustment charge levied on the electricity bill of industrial and hotel sectors with effect from January 1 this year.

This follows a directive issued by the President in pursuance of the Government policy of providing relief to the people, a Ministry release said.

A fuel adjustment change of 30 per cent was levied on the industrial and hotel sectors last year following the revision of the electricity rates. This was reduced to 15 per cent in the 2009 Budget introduced by the President with effect from November 11 last year.
