Forces capture LTTE bunker line

Task Force IV advancing in the Vanni front captured an LTTE bunker line, training camp and modified administrative base following a fierce battle that erupted in Keridamadu area, Mullaitivu on Monday.

The Security Forces poised to liberate the Vanni advanced further into LTTE held area inflicting heavy casualties and damages to the Tiger cadres throughout the battle on Monday in the Vanni region.

Brigadier Udaya Nana-yakkara said troops attached to 57 and 58 divisions launched multi-pronged attacks amids heavy resistance from LTTE cadres in Uriyan and South of Elephant Pass causing severe damages to the Tigers. “In a subsequent search operation troops recovered two LTTE bodies along with two T56 assault riffles”, he added.

In the Vanni battle front troops of 59 division confronting LTTE stiff resistance in Pudhukudiyiruppu and Maulliyaweli in Mullaitivu inflicted heavy casualties on LTTE cadres. “A body of a Tiger cadre, a Light Machine Gun and two T56 assault riffles were recovered by troops”, Brigadier Nanayakkara said.
