Estate youth on fast track

Youth Empowerment and Socio Economical Development Minister Arumugam Thondaman will provide sports facilities to estate youths, through his ministry.

The Minister has opened a sports stadium to encourage the youths in sports and provided sports items. Volleyball, cricket, netball and indoor games such as carrom and chess will also be popularised among the youth. Plans are afoot to obtain the support of the Sports Ministry and other sports organisations to provide training to the youth.

The Minister's aim is to train the estate youths to compete at national level and later, encourage them to participate at international level. Talents of the estate youth should be brought out through sports. Special coaches will be brought from outside to train them, the Minister said.
