K’nochi to be developed

Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardane yesterday said Kilinochchi will be developed on par with other districts soon after land mines from the area are removed.

Addressing the media at his Ministry auditorium Minister Abeywardane said that while winning the LTTE militarily the Government was committed to look after the needs of those who suffered untold hardships due to terrorism.

The Minister Abeywardane also said that a special discussion was held at the President Secretariat chaired by UPFA parliamentarian and Senior Presidential adviser Basil Rajapaksa in connection with the Development of North and the welfare measures to be carried on behalf of those to be resettled.

Indian High Commissioner Alok Prasad, TULF Leader Ananda Sangaree and the relevant District Secretaries were also present at the meeting.
