OL maths paper:
Orientation Jan 19 to 23
Students sitting the 2008 GCE O’ Level fresh Mathematics II paper on
January 24, in place of the controversial question paper which was
cancelled, are to be given a proper orientation about the syllabus prior
to sitting the paper.
Education Ministry Secretary Nimal Bandara has directed all
Provincial Director’s of Education to conduct special programs at
Provincial level to prepare students for this paper.
Bandara in a circular said special seminars and other programs should
be held in schools to update students’ knowledge by getting them to sit
model question papers according to the relevant syllabus.
He has said these programs should be conducted in schools from
January 19 to 23 after creating an awareness among principals through
zonal and Divisional Directors, Directors in charge of the mathematics
subject and mathematics consultants.
The sole responsibility of implementing this program should be rested
in the Provincial Director in charge of mathematics and a report
submitted to the ministry about the implementation process.
