The Sub-Postmasters' Service is an aged old system and needs to be
reorganized. Sub-Postmasters perform an invaluable service to the rural
community that form an integral part of the population.
Therefore they would be absorbed into the combined service according
to the public service recruitment procedure, said Post Master General
M.K.B. Dissanayake. He was speaking at a ceremony in Thotagamuwa
recently.
This meeting was organised by the Matale District Sub Postmasters'
Welfare Union.
The Postmaster General said trade unions is an organ of the
democratic form of rule. They can do a lot provided they possess the
right mind-set. Their complaints about Sri Lanka's Postal Service is
baseless. He said a Rs. 10 million fraud has surfaced in the Central
Mail exchange. He further said he offers gratitude to honest and
hardworking officers. |
