Road to misery

Forty families in the Manikpaya village in the Ibbagamuwa DS division undergo untold hardships as the road leading to their village is in a dilapidated condition. The situation has become worse as the bridge on this road which was destroyed by floods about four years ago has not yet been reconstructed.

The road goes underwater very frequently as the village is surrounded by the Kimbulwana oya from three sides.

The livelihood of residents of this village is fishing and farming. They face immense difficulties in transporting their produce to the Melsiripura town due to the present condition of the road.

During rainy days schoolchildren are the worst affected.

They request the Chairman of the Ibbagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha to take prompt action to reconstruct the damaged bridge and renovate the road.
