Health workers assured job security

Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva assured the Health Management Assistants their job security and continuation of their service.

The Public Services Commission (PSC) had declared the recruitment of Health Management Assistants have violated the relevant procedures, Ministry sources said.

The sources said in 2006, the Ministry recruited 200 Health Management Assistants.

The PSC has informed the ministry that the recruitment was inconsistent with the required procedure. Due to this, there was a possibility that those 200 Health Management Assistants would lose their jobs.

According to the sources, the ministry recruited them after obtaining the Cabinet approval to fill 200 vacancies.
