Diamond jubilee of Rev. Sr. Lilyosa

Rev. Sr. Lilyosa will celebrate the Diamond Jubilee as an apostolic Carmelite on January 8. She entered the Carmel Convent at Mangalore in India in 1947, since there were no such Convents of their Order in any part of Jaffna at that time.

She is the First A.C. nun from Jaffna to become an apostolic Carmelite.

Rev. Sr. Lilyosa was born in Jaffna and she answered the call the lord of work in his Vineyard through the intuition and guidance given by Rev. Fr. Louis Joseph OMI. Two years after joining the Mangalore Convent, she made her first vow as a nun on January 8, 1949. Since then she has functioned as a teacher for forty years.

After her retirement, she worked in the various parishes actively engaging herself in social service for 20 years.

She will celebrate her Diamond Jubilee at the Provincial House, Carmel Convent, Colombo - 10.
