Deadline for postal vote applications extended

The Elections Secretariat announced yesterday that the deadline for accepting requests for postal voting facilities for the upcoming Central and North Western Provincial Council polls had been extended till January 09, 2009.

A statement from the Secretariat said the decision was taken after considering the difficulties faced by school teachers who were on customary vacation leave.

The offer is open to all eligible applicants, the Secretariat said, adding that applications received after midnight on 09.01.2009 would be rejected.

All applicants are to direct their applications prior to this deadline to the relevant District Election offices either in person or by post.
