24th anniversary:
New CT scanner commissioned at J'pura Hospital

The Sri Jayawardanapura General Hospital yesterday celebrated its
24th anniversary by commissioning a new 16 Slice C.T Scanner. The
Scanner was purchased under a soft loan granted by the Austrian
Government. Health Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva was the chief guest.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Minister de Silva thanked the Sri
Jayawardanapura Hospital staff for taking steps to install the C.T.
Scanner at a very short duration, since the hospital face immense
difficulties to have C.T Scan reports from outside hospitals.
He said the Jayawardanapura hospital now owns adequate medical
equipment, doctors, nurses and other employees to treat any amount of
patients and said that it was happy to see a large number of war heroes
as well as Buddhist monks seeking treatment at the hospital.
The Minister also requested the hospital authorities to get the
maximum of the C.T. Scanner and directed the officials to do at least
twenty scans a day.
"I also would like to ask authorities to introduce special charging
scheme for poor patients when they come for C.T.S reports, since the
Government's main intention is to provide health facilities to all
citizens alike," he said.
Making an anusasana, Ven. Welamitiyave Kusaladamma Thera urged the
hospital authorities to maintain a close unity among staffers, and said
that any institution can be developed with the unity of all workers.
The Minister also opened a new Elders-care Unit - Suwa Sahanaya and a
new car park. |
