Rural talent draws for success


One of Thilakratna’s creations - symbols of prosperity.

The partially embossed cement based art from popularly known as mural art has become promising venture for 50-year-old H.K.D. Tilakratna of Mitipola in Eheliyagoda. He has mastered this art form to a great extent.

According to him, the secret behind his success is his knowledge and talent.

The raw-material needed are cement, asbestos sheets and paint. Tilakaranta chooses soft colours for his creations to attract a varied audience.

Tilakaratna moulds Egyptian model statues large garden vases, birds and serpents by using cement and sand.
