‘Future Minds of Jaffna’ 2008 starts today

The mega industrial and educational exhibition ‘Future Minds of
Jaffna’ - will commence today in Jaffna. It will continue till December
29.
The exhibition is held at Vembady Girls College and Jaffna Central
College grounds with 100 exhibition and trade stalls.
All Government institutes and private banks in Jaffna as well as the
local business community will be participating in this exhibition
including many business companies from Colombo such as CLC, Hayleys
Agro, Lanchem, Solex, Abans, Mobitel, Dialog, Caltex, Richard Pieris,
Pure Beverages, Elephant House and Rankoth Enterprises.
Participation of leading book shops and publishers from Colombo is
significant since it addresses a greater need in the Jaffna education
system. Adding glamour to the exhibition a singing competition is
included, namely the North Star, recognising the hidden talents of the
youth in Jaffna.
The North Satar will receive a Maruti Suzuki mortar car worth Rs. 1.5
million rupees and the prizes for the second and third places will be
worth around one million rupees, collectively.
This exhibition held with the aim of expanding and refreshing the
knowledge of professionals and students and bringing in job
opportunities for unemployed youth in Jaffna, started with the concept
forwarded by Jaffna Security Forces Commander Major General G. A.
Chandrasiri with the support of the Army Commander. The total event was
coordinated by the Peace Secretariat, Colombo with the previous
experience in successfully conducting ‘Reawakening Jaffna’ carnival with
a mammoth participation of Jaffna people in May this year, the Army is
fully confident in providing security for the people to enjoy this rare
opportunity. Special transport facilities will be provided for the
people coming from all areas in the Jaffna peninsula with the support of
the Army. |
