Dhamma education to be strengthened

tuition classes, depriving the children from attending Sunday Dhamma

Dissanayake said addressing the veteran sportsmen and women in the N.C.P
at a tribute conferring ceremony at the Anuradhapura Silpha Salika
auditorium.
this was stated as President Mahinda Rajapaksa is focused in
strengthening the Dhamma education in the country.
The players who emerged triumphant at the All Ceylon School Athletic
meet 2008, were conferred with colours for their excellent athletic
performances. The coaches of the athletes were honoured at the ceremony
as well.
Speaking further the Chief Minister emphasised that the North Central
Provincial Council would institute a special statute prohibiting the
conduct of tuition classes in the morning session of Sundays.
"We the North Central Provincial Council provide computers to the
schools in our province and simultaneously furnish them with sports
equipment and facilities, for moulding intelligent and healthy citizens
as our future leaders.
The provincial council will implement a sports development plan to
offer a helping hand to the talented sportsmen and women especially in
the remote rural areas to rise to the provincial, national and
international level" the Chief Minister mentioned further.
The Chief Ministry's secretary Anandha Kularatne, Presidential
Coordinating Director R.M.S. Ratnayake, National Schools Director Sri
Lal Nonis, the president of the Anuradhapura School Athletics
Association Premasiri Hettiarachchi and a large number of athletes,
sports officers coaches and officials were present at the colours
awarding ceremony.
